Green Screen returns to the Little Theatre
The regular Green Screen series celebrating environmentally conscious cinema at Bath’s Little Theatre cinema is back in March. Each Green Screen consists of a screening of an environmental documentary, followed by a panel Q&A and informal discussion in the cinema’s event space.
First up on March 1 is Dylan Howitt’s award-winning The Nettle Dress, which recounts a unique story of ‘hedgerow couture’. It follows textile artist Allan Brown as he spends seven years making a dress by hand from the fibre of locally foraged stinging nettles. This is a devotional labour of love that helps Allan to heal after the death of his wife. Charting his progress through the seasons foraging, spinning, weaving, cutting and sewing the cloth, The Nettle Dress highlights sustainable fashion in its purest form and concludes with the dress being worn by one of his daughters back in the woods where the nettles were picked.
