New Dalai Lama documentary previews in Bristol
Released nationwide on April 19 to mark the 64th anniversary of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Tibet into India, Never Forget Tibet: The Dalai Lama’s Untold Story is an officially sanctioned documentary inspired by the book An Officer and His Holiness by Rani Singh and narrated by Hugh Bonneville. Bristol audiences will get a sneak preview of the film when it’s unveiled at the Everyman Cinema on April 4. The spiritually inclined may wish to note that the screening will be preceded by a specially recorded ‘guided meditation for world peace’ by Mr. Lama’s chum Deepak Chopra.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis: “One of the most significant moments in 20th Century history, His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama reveals the details of his incredible escape into exile for the first time on film in his own words with the Indian political officer who led him to safety. Featuring members of the Dalai Lama’s family, the Tibetan community in exile and those with historic ties to Tibet, the film explores the Dalai Lama’s compassion for a world seemingly in crisis today and seeks to find what can be learnt from his inspirational life story, Tibetan culture and its ancient spirituality.”

The Dalai Lama was one of the more unusual Pyramid Stage headliners at Glastonbury
