Hostiles
Christian Bale stars in a slow-burning, revisionist anti-racist western set in 1892
We’re well into awards season now, with contenders arriving on a weekly basis for the next couple of months. This week’s big releases are Hostiles (go here for our review) and Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World (go here for our review). But in anticipation of a big win at Sunday’s Golden Globes, setting it up for Oscar glory, both the Cinema de Lux and Everyman cinemas have previews of Martin McDonagh’s brilliant Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (go here for our review), which opens on January 12.
The big event cinema release is Lili Fini Zanuck’s Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars (go here for our review), which is previewed at many cinemas on Wednesday, followed by a live Q&A with Zanuck and Slowhand himself, hosted by Jools Holland. As usual, follow the links below for venues and screening times and go here for our comprehensive film listings.
