The South West’s biggest celebration of African cinema, arts and culture returns

Opening with a preview of the new Senegalese drama Félicité (which returns for a week-long run later in the month) and closing with the regional premiere of stirring South African coming-of-age story The Wound, this year’s Afrika Eye festival takes over the Watershed on the weekend of November 10-12. Also on offer are neglected classics of African cinema, plus documentaries about female lawyers in Cameroon and the dying art of fantasy coffin making in Ghana. To whet your appetite, there are additional events at the Arnolfini on October 26 and the Cube on October 29. You’ll find full details of all screenings below. Follow the links for more info. And don’t forget that Afrika Eye is about more than just film. Check the festival website for details of workshops and music events throughout the weekend.
