A day of new DJs on Noods Radio
On Sunday, eight broadcasters will take to the airwaves for the first time for a day of eclectic music on Noods Radio.
The Saffron Records takeover is the culmination of Saffron’s radio broadcasting course, which provides eight women, non-binary and gender non-confirming folks in Bristol with the tools, confidence and space to develop their own idea for a radio show.
From midday on Sunday, broadcasting live from the Noods Radio studio in St Paul’s will be Sally, Ginny, Kofo Ajala, Charlie, SpicyIvy, Verraco, Steph Pia and Caragh.

Each one will be showcasing what they have learned as part of the eight-week course.
And each show will also be deeply personal for each broadcaster, with themes from love songs to Irish female producers, Manchester’s former Hacienda nightclub to one hour inspired by the slow and tender act of making rice and peas.
Listen to Kofo Ajala on the latest Bristol24/7 Behind the Headlines podcast:
Kofo told the latest Bristol24/7 Behind the Headlines podcast that her show from 2pm to 3pm – called Queen of Hearts – will be celebrating her love of love songs and will be heavily influenced with RnB, hip-hop and soul.
“It’s been really awesome to work with a female-led and female-empowering organisation, especially in music,” said Kofo about Saffron Records.
She added: “I’m a really soppy gal, I love love, I love talking about love, all the emotions that come with love.
“I just really wanted to play that music that has been on my mind throughout this really weird time. Which has just been love songs and about being embraced and what it means to lose love, messy love, toxic love, just a lot of love basically!”
