When one of the world’s jazz superstars lives on your doorstep it’s right and proper you get him to play at your jazz festival. The joy of inviting Bristol-based saxophonist Andy Sheppard is you never quite know what he’ll bring to the table. This year he’s previewing an unreleased album, his third for the prestigious German ECM label, featuring amazing Norwegian guitar electronicist Eivind Aarest, top-flight French bass player Michel Bonita and irrepressible Italian percussionist Michele Rabbia. Quite what that unpredictable alchemy will lead to is anyone’s guess, but the quality is certainly assured.

Festival programmer Denny Ilett says:”It’ll be a real privilege to hear this supergroup play Andy’s new music.”
