Beak> release new album

By Martin Booth  Friday Sep 21, 2018

Bristol band Beak> have released their third studio album, >>>, which was mostly recorded at Invada Records‘ studio in Bedminster.

A five-star review in The Skinny says that the band’s “third mini-opus sees them navigate more dark corridors of the mind in a labyrinth of their own making”.

The first single from the album was Brean Down, named after bthe dramatic cliffs jutting out into the Bristol Channel between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea.

Beak> are made up of Billy Fuller, Matt Williams and Geoff Barrow.

Fuller played for Invada’s first signing Fuzz Against Junk and has also played with Massive Attack and Robert Plant, as well as previously working in the former Replay Records on Park Street.

According to the Beak> Facebook page, Williams “picked up a Yamaha keyboard aged three and never looked back… He enjoys playing air drums whilst cycling, singing lines from a favourite Latin prayer and doesn’t understand the music he makes himself.”

Musician and producer Barrow, co-owner of Invada, is best known as forming and producing Portishead, whose last album Third was released in 2008.

Beak> are embarking on a US and Canada tour in October before a string of dates in the UK, including a gig in Bristol on December 10 at an as-yet undisclosed location raising money for a homeless charity.
