BIMM Institute announce summer school for young people
Bristol’s BIMM Institute are running a music Summer School for 11-17 year olds from August 7 to 11.
There are three courses; Performance (students playing in bands), Songwriting and Music Production with a number of workshops each day focusing on skills with each group of students in their course.
There is a day set aside for a collaboration of all students in our state-of-the-art studio in the new Moon Street building and the week will culminate with a gig in the college’s Atrium concert space.
is needed now More than ever
Each summer school runs over five days and consists of:
- Dedicated tuition for your chosen discipline
- Live performance workshops on stage for performers
- Access to music software and hardware for producers
There will also be a special guest from the music industry joining us for a masterclass (although this a surprise, they happen to be in one of Bristol’s biggest recent bands to hit global success!).

Tutors for the Summer School are established lecturers at BIMM University who also have varied parallel careers as world-touring performers and recording artists with Mercury-Prize nominated artists, through to composing music for global-reach TV shows.
The course costs £299 however there are bursaries also available which enables participation in the BIMM summer schools by providing the full fee to cover the course cost, as well as travel, lunch and access to instruments where needed.
