Brand new single and homemade video released from musician with long Covid

By Issy Packer  Wednesday Oct 18, 2023

Carolin Seitz, known as seitz, has released a spooky tune in time for Halloween.

Titled The Web, the track was released on October 10 alongside a homemade music video.

After developing long Covid in 2020, the musician was diagnosed with ME/CFS and, by 2021, was completely bedridden.

“Since the doctors couldn’t offer me any treatment or medication, I started doing my own research and came across many sad accounts of people’s lives being irrevocably destroyed by viral infections,” she tells Bristol24/7.

“I thought that my life as I’d known it was over and that I would certainly never perform or record again.”

However, despite not being able to get out of bed, Carolin still had unreleased music in the archives and decided to learn about video editing software and decided to focus on the visual side of music promotion.

Thus, The Web was born.

“Working on this video project brought me back to my true self, kept me focused on a brighter future and gave me the incentive to expand my daily energy envelope bit by bit,” Carolin explains.

“Ever since I’ve had this experience, I’ve been encouraging other long COVID sufferers not to identify with their illness and limitations, but to hold on to their healthy, ‘normal’ selves as much as possible.”

However, Carolin is keen to stress that although the project gave her a reason to get better, it wasn’t simply a miracle cure.

“I hope my story won’t give readers the impression that all it took for me to get better was motivation and willpower. That certainly wasn’t the case.

“I had a couple of brilliant health practitioners (an acupuncturist and a kinesiologist), I changed my diet, and I still religiously stick to a daily routine of (very mild) yoga and meditation.

“The creative project was simply something to get better for, it gave me a reason to keep pushing towards health rather than sink into hopelessness and depression.”
