Brisfest Soundscape highlights, part 3
On Saturday, July 30 Brisfest returns in a brand new, multi-venue format.
We’re particularly excited here at Bristol24/7 because this year we’re programming the main stage. Unfolding outside (and later inside) The Station, our ‘Best of Bristol’ lineup represents the past, present and future of the city’s underground music scene from indie rock to hip-hop, electronica and bass music.
Each day this week we’ll be picking out a few of the bands, DJs and solo artists from our stages and beyond.
Mr Woodnote, Eva Lazarus & Lil Rhys
Eva Lazarus headlined our stage at the 6Music Festival fringe back in February, and she was a revelation. Here the Dub Mafia singer is joined by Mr Woodnote and Lil Rhys for a show of improvised set of sax-driven loops and bars that’s won over crowds from Broadmead to Glastonbury and Shamble.
Kahn
Bristol’s man of the moment. Whether churning out heavyweight grime instrumentals, collaborating with Neek as Gorgon Sound or working on more experimental fare as a member of the Young Echo collective, Joe McGann is a master of underground dubplate sounds.
Vena Cava
One of Bristol’s very finest guitar bands, Vena Cava’s blend noise rock, shoegaze, drone and psychedelia is about as heady as it gets. Set the controls for the heart of The Station and immerse yourself in sonic fire.
