Brisfest Soundscape highlights, part 5
On Saturday, July 30 Brisfest returns in a brand new, multi-venue format.
We’re particularly excited here at Bristol24/7 because this year we’re programming the main stage. Unfolding outside (and later inside) The Station, our ‘Best of Bristol’ lineup represents the past, present and future of the city’s underground music scene from indie rock to hip-hop, electronica and bass music.
Oliver Wilde
Described by the NME as “a Nick Drake for the 21st Century”, Oliver Wilde is one of the most talented songwriters to emerge from Bristol in many years. Bridging indie rock, folk, electronics and psychedelia, his woozy and heartfelt music is as accessible as it is original.
Ishmael
Bristol’s house and techno explosion has resulted in everything from rugged machine funk to big room vocal anthems. Ishmael is one of the most interesting young producers out there right now. His work possesses an emotional pull that makes it equally suited to clubland euphoria and introspective after hours sessions.
DJ Cheeba
We’re hardly putting our necks on the line when we say that Cheeba is Bristol’s most technically accomplished DJ. Solid Steel’s main man in the South-West, his sets blend classic turntablism with ravishing, state of the art visuals and futuristic beats from a dizzying range of genres.
If you missed our other four Brisfest highlights pieces earlier this week, check them out now, starting here.
