Bristol artist wins at Ivors Classical Awards
One of this year’s three special ‘Gift of the Academy’ award winners is Bristol-born composer Tansy Davies who is being awarded the Outstanding Works Collection Award.
This award is the highest honour bestowed by The Ivors Academy, in recognition of his excellence and impact in the art and craft of music creation and is in addition to the winners of the eight nominated categories.
Tansy is a cross-genre composer who was named one of the UK’s most influential people in the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000 in 2015 and 2019.

Her music has been performed at the BBC Proms, the Royal Opera House, King’s College Cambridge’s Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which has been broadcast to millions of viewers each year.
This is the first year that The Ivors Academy has presented The Ivors Classical Awards to celebrate the best new classical music and sound art by British, Irish or UK resident composers.
