Bristol scene stalwarts The Blast hooked up with Deep Medi and Critical Sound for a rave to remember. Running the gamut of bass music from grime to tech-d&b, it was such a success that a second outing’s nailed on for 2017.

2. Rave of the Decade II, Easter Compton Farm

This affectionate tribute to the acid and hardcore scene of the early ’90s was yet another example of Alfresco Disco’s uncanny ability to turn a party into an event. Bristol veteran DJ Die headlined to devastating effect.

3. Bitch, Please, Motion

Honey Dijon and Spencer Parker were the guest DJs but there was more to this sensational LGTB+ day party than music. Dance crews and drag acts helped build an atmosphere of summer abandon, and as at all great parties the crowd were the real stars.

4. Psyched, The Black Swan
January 22
It doesn’t matter how many rooms you have or how many names you can squeeze onto the poster. It’s all about putting the right people in the right venue, as demonstrated in January when Psyched put Om Unit, Zomby and Kode 9 in The Black Swan. Perfection.
5. Noise Test, Blue Mountain
August 12
Despite being the same weekend as Boomtown, the Bristol debut of this forward-thinking drum & bass and electronica night received a deservedly warm welcome. Throwing Snow, Clarity and Ruffhouse all brought their A game, and we hope to see it back in 2017.
