Bristol MiniRig link-up World record attempt

By Laura Williams  Tuesday Jun 23, 2015

A neat little portable speaker made in Bristol is the subject of a World record bid in the city this summer.

The humble MiniRig has become synonymous with top quality sound from mobile devices and there’s a growing number of proud owners in Bristol and beyond who are keen to share the love.

So, on July 18 in Castle Park, MiniRig owners will meet with their nifty speakers in a bid to create the world record for the highest number of MiniRigs linked up (we say create rather than beat, because there doesn’t appear to be a current record.

A spokesman for the event, which is not an official MiniRig event, said: “Bristol seems the perfect place for it seeing as it was developed and born here. Bring your fully charged MiniRig, connecting cable and your cider.”

MiniRig brings together the world class design and engineering departments at Bristol University and UWE Bristol and is inspired by the thriving Bristol music scene and sound system culture.

The event is being registered with the Guinness World Records team and organisers have high hopes that they’ll make history with this.
