Campbell Sibthorpe releases new single

By Amy Grace  Friday Jun 19, 2020

Born in Australia and raised in the small town of Yatton just outside of Bristol, the folk artist has been channelling his energy to create masterpieces which talk of his experiences of growing up in a small town.

‘Good Lord’ is taken from his upcoming EP which is due for release on July 21. Campbell has been cultivating songs which are rooted in folk, with dashes of pop here and there. ‘Good Lord’ features luscious guitar moments which are tinged with the early solo work of George Harrison. The latter half is more dramatic, with yearning piano sections and pleasant percussion, all of which encapsulates the frustration and exasperation in the lyrics.

Speaking on the track, Campbell elaborates: “I wrote Good Lord before moving away from home. I’d walked around the village one day and maybe it was seeing a dead bird on the road or the noticing of how empty the streets were but, in that moment, I realised how stilted and stagnant my life had become, and that I had to leave”.

Campbell’s upcoming EP YTown will be released on July 21.
