City-wide music festival returns to unique Bristol locations this spring
A festival of contemporary music and sound is set to take over Bristol this Spring.
Returning for its fourth edition, Bristol New Music promises an “exploration of the city through sound” in a four-day festival hosted by in collaboration with five landmark Bristol organisations.
Bristol Beacon, Arnolfini, Spike Island, St George’s Bristol and Bristol University have joined forces to “make Bristol buzzing” with a collection of multi-genre and eclectic performances of contemporary music from May 5 to 8.

The festival’s performances will take place in unique locations across the city, from Strange Brew and Arnolfini to the vaulted chamber beneath the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Organisers have revealed the first names of the lineup, which will see Bristol enlivened by commissioned works, concert hall performances and club nights.
Artists featuring at this year’s festival include south London musician and soundtrack composer Mica Levi and Chicago-based singer and clarinettist Angel Bat Dawid.
Swedish composer Ellen Arkbro will be performing a new organ piece at St Mary Redcliffe Church, as well as Áine O’Dwyer who will present a new commission that “captures the song and instrumentation of time, place and people” in Easton.
Other site-specific works which draw inspiration from Bristol locations are artist Kelly Jayne Jones’ intimate multimedia performance deep inside the hidden vaults of Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Others artists include: Beatrice Dillon feat. Kuljit Bhamra, Bendik Giske, Harrga, Hezarfen Ensemble, Nazar with Rob Heppell, Viridian Ensemble, MC Yallah & Debmaster.
