Collection of costumes and films from the Chemical Brothers shows to go on exhibit
MUSIC RESPONSE 001 is the first in a series of art installations by Smith & Lyall – the artists behind the stunning visuals for The Chemical Brothers live show.
This will be the first in a series of exhibitions, showcasing work created for the show re-imagined in different contexts.
In this first incarnation of MUSIC RESPONSE, a collection of costumes and films from the Chemical Brothers visuals will be exhibited in an empty shop on the high street of Wincanton, just over an hour outside of Bristol.
is needed now More than ever
All the costumes that feature in the exhibition were co-designed by Smith & Lyall and costume designer and Somerset resident Kate Tabor, who handmade all the costumes with her local team.
For several weeks in October, visitors will encounter extraordinary, dream-like characters through the windows of the repurposed high street shop.
Although some of the costumes were previously shown at the Design Museum in London as part of the landmark 2021 exhibition Electronic: From Kraftwerk to The Chemical Brothers, the majority are on public display for the first time.
Inside the shop are more costumes, masks and an exclusive new audio-visual installation by Smith & Lyall and The Chemical Brothers featuring a track from their most recent album For That Beautiful Feeling which was released earlier this month.
The exhibition will be on display on October 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29.
