Connect: The new series that brings artists and producers from across the UK together
The duo Daboothe and Maxx know their music.
With a radio show that showcases the best of underground talent that’s taking over the hip hop, RnB and pop scene from Bristol and around the world, they are now putting their knowledge and passion to a new project.
“We’ve built up this catalogue of artists and we want to bring people together that we’ve never seen collaborate,” Max tells Bristol24/7.
is needed now More than ever
It’s all in the name. The series is hoping to connect artists in ways which they wouldn’t normally consider, professionally and personally.
“We just needed to make it about coming together. The reason artists in London are able to burst on to the scene is through support and connections from other artists.
“However Bristol tends to be a bit more independent so we want to connect artists to artists. If we’re able to get enough music funding to reach new people and get this music out then we can really support some high quality artists.”
The first episode in the series featured artists from BORN2BE Records: Kwazi, Jazpa One and Shaks, alongside Bristol producer AC_PRO. There will be ten episodes in the series with a new episode dropping monthly.
“From start to finish the first episode took about two months but it can vary,” Max tells us. “One episode is completely singer oriented and sometimes artists can work about 60 hours.
“That episode was very hard too as the artist weren’t big fans of the backing and asked the producers to make a new one. It can be a difficult process.”
With so much talent in one city, it’s no surprise that the duo have been inundated people wanting to get involved.
“It’s been amazing, when we read Instagram about how much people are enjoying this and we got flooded with messages ask how they can get involved, it’s lead us to some really good leads.”
The aim of the series was to bring artists and producers together to collaborate on something new and exciting and they have definitely succeeded in this.
What do they have planned for the future Connect? “Long term we’d love to do a new series every year. We are trying to become a CIC so now we’re in the process of applying for grants. It’s really fun to see everyone create so we definitely want to keep it going.”
If you want to get their music played on their radio shows (which go out across the UK, on Ujima, 1020, BCFM, Decedance, Subtle, Pie Radio, Reform, Unity and Imperial Voice), you can email a clean mp3 at musicfordandm@gmail.com
