Creative lockdown: Barry Walsh

Barry Walsh is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.

Songwriter and musician Barry Walsh has supported everyone from the Wurzels to Brotherhood of Man, playing original roots music, most of which focuses on his hometown of Bristol.

He normally sells his music is locally in tourist hotspots including the SS Great Britain, the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Aerospace Bristol.

However, since the coronavirus outbreak and being stuck at home, Barry has been writing short, informative jingles about the effects of the disease and solutions to beating it.

“My eight jingles are being played out everyday at BBC Radio Bristol/Somerset and a further seven national BBC stations,” says Barry. “Also, as far afield as Australia, America and Europe.

“My jingles are a lighthearted yet serious public service, informing listeners to what they should be doing in these troubled times.”
