Creative lockdown: Bristol Breakout

By Lowie Trevena  Wednesday Apr 29, 2020

Bristol Breakout are part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.

A punk rock cover band from Bristol have released a new cover, inspired by the coronavirus pandemic.

The three band members, who live in Cadbury Heath, Knowle and Bradley Stoke, decided to cover The Ramones’ Blitzkrieg Bop, changing the lyrics to make them more in line with the current crisis.

Bruce Ryland, the band’s bassist and an NHS worker, says “when I saw the Storm Troopers of Death do their home video, I thought that was ace”, and got his bandmates together to create something similar.

The band recorded the music and video in their homes. They might make more in the future, depending on how popular the song is and how long lockdown lasts.
