Creative lockdown: Bristol Show Choir

By Lowie Trevena  Friday Apr 24, 2020

Bristol Show Choir are part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.

Bristol Show Choir has been singing songs from musical theatre, all in a capella, since 2017.

Ordinarily meeting in person to sing songs from shows such as Wicked and Rent, as well as lesser known musical pieces, the choir has moved online during the pandemic.

As well as hosting a weekly rehearsal via Zoom, the choir has released it’s first cover created during lockdown.

The group has released their version of You Will Be Found from Dear Evan Hansen, with members singing and recording themselves in their own homes.

The rendition has been recorded in aid of SafeLives, a charity working to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

The charity, which works nationwide, is working especially hard during the coronavirus pandemic as a result of a spike in domestic abuse reports.

The choir hopes that the song will remind people, and especially those suffering through domestic abuse, that they are not alone and can reach out for help.

To report a crime or abuse, call the police on 101, or 999 if it is an emergency. You can report online by visiting www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report.
