Creative lockdown: Clive Meaker
Clive Meaker is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.
Ordinarily, Clive Meaker creates live dance tracks as part of his band, Dr Meaker. Under lockdown, however, he has taken a different approach to music.
The musician recorded a few chords he had been playing on the piano to Instagram, which inadvertently started an impromptu, digital jam.
is needed now More than ever
“A fellow drum and bass producer said that he had been inspired and took it on himself to play a bass line over the top,” Clive explains. “He filmed himself and spliced it with my video and uploaded it.
“It kind of took off from there, where other people started uploading their parts as well. It was one of those unplanned and spontaneous, magical incidents that happen in life… It blew my mind!”

Clive was stunned with the reaction, but admits his band was feeling a little left out. In response, Dr Meaker have decided to do even more jams, as a band, in the coming weeks.
