Dareshack becomes first UK music and arts venue with d&b Soundscape

By Issy Packer  Thursday Dec 15, 2022

Dareshack, located on Wine St., has partnered with with d&b audiotechnik, an audio solutions company, to deliver a UK first experience.

The d&b Soundscape provides new 360 degree possibilities for creators and audiences at the venue; twenty-two loudspeakers are combined with state-of-the-art processing power, object-based mixing, and sophisticated room emulation.

The cafe, restaurant and music venue opened in 2020 with the 200 capacity venue launching in early 2022. Hosting live performances, day festivals and club nights, the space now invites sound designers, engineers, artists and  audiences to a new world of sound with a permanent installation.

The partnership between d&b and Dareshack goes a step further with a  programme of creative residencies, regular creative labs and sound system  training designed to enable a host of creators to access this black box of creativity.

The Soundscape was launched on December 9 with an industry exclusive event before a host of events coming in the next few weeks.

Dareshack’s co-founder Adda Cohn explains: “Soundscape enables artists to transform the space;  it can sound like a concert hall, an intimate gig, an open-air theatre.

“As a visitor, you might hear a bird singing behind you, the ocean directly in front, a breeze rustling through the trees to your left. The bird takes flight, soaring across the  room and out to sea. It’s pure magic.”
