Drum and bass DJ offers career coaching sessions for free

By Lowie Trevena  Wednesday Apr 22, 2020

An award-winning drum and bass producer living in Bristol is giving back to the artistic community by offering free online coaching sessions – which normally cost £1,000.

K Thompson, known as DJ Krust, is an international artist specialising in career and lifestyle coaching for people in the entertainment industry.

The coaching sessions, ‘Planet Reset – The Power Hour’, aim to help people change their mindset so they can reach the next level of growth in their career. These sessions normally cost £1,000 but he is offering artists free access to his sessions in response to the crisis and its impact on the entertainment sector.

A Mercury Music Prize winner and Billboard charts award winner, K performed the major festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella and Creamfields before becoming a coach for artists.

“There are so many people in the creative industry who have had their livelihood stopped overnight,” explains K. “With all the major festivals cancelled and venues across the country closed, thousands of artists are now facing months of no work. Many of them may be worried that they may not have a career to go back to.

“The coaching sessions address a style of thinking that focuses on solutions, finding ways to thrive and break free of the ‘fear’ mindset.”

With thousands of artists seeing their profession stop overnight, K hopes to support them through a financially and emotionally difficult time.

The first live coaching session was held at the end of March, and K envisions them continuing for the foreseeable future. The last session reached more than 12,000, with almost 4,000 views and hundreds of comments.

“This is a really difficult time for us all,” K says. “But there’s one thing we can all still do, and that is use our creative skills to better our situation.”

The coaching sessions take place on DJ Krust’s Facebook and Instagram on Tuesdays at 2.30pm.
