Elder Island Announce UK 2021 Tour and Release a Tour Documentary

By Will Humphrey  Saturday Aug 22, 2020

Some people would call them genre-blending enthusiasts. Others would call them multi-layered musical shapeshifters. They call themselves Elder Island. The Bristol-based group have grown a distinguished reputation for their unique genre-shapeshifting tracks and melodic broodings during their live performances. After a successful UK tour in 2019 to launch and promote their debut album The Omnitone Collection, the trio has announced that they are hitting the UK roads again in March 2021.

The Tour

The tour will start at the beginning of Spring 2021 and sees the dance electronica collective complete a short circuit of major cities throughout the United Kingdom. Elder Island will begin with a performance at Birmingham’s infamous O2 Academy, followed by call-ins to Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Dublin (for two nights), Brighton and will finish their tour in the capital with a doubleheader at the Oval Place.

A Welcomed Bristol Return

Elder Island fans in the South West will be eager to know whether they have included Bristol in their tour locations. Rest assured, they will be making a homecoming return. Katy, David and Luke will also be calling into their home city and perform at Bristol’s SWX, with an appearance scheduled for March 11 2021. The announcement of the UK 2021 tour has been announced in conjunction with the release of a visual video that provides an insightful encroachment into the trio’s Omnitone Tour in 2019.

Tour Documentary

In the video, Elder Island discuss the magic of being on the stage and looking out at the audiences – thriving on their energy. The trio also highlights the vital transition of creating music and giving it over to their fans during their live performances. Katy speaks openly about the unnaturalness of touring – especially if you aren’t a born exhibitionist and how the trio uses the crowd’s energy to electrify their live shows.

The insightful behind the scenes documentary was captured and directed by Nic Kane, a freelance photographer, who has previously worked with Kudhva, Runrummer and Carhart

The collection of digital and video captured these important moments in time, allowing fans to truly experience the touring lifestyle and see snippets of the world through their eyes. You can also see the iconic 2019 sold-out gigs in Bristol (The Marble Factory) and London (The Roundhouse), as well as seeing how the Bristolian trio set-up their environment for their live shows. You can watch the video below.
