Free DJ taster workshops announced for people of South Asian Heritage
Asian Arts Agency is partnering with RepresentAsian, the podcast and clubnight championing South Asian DJs and promoting diversity in nightlife across the UK, to hold a DJ Taster Workshop.
The session will be hosted by DJ’s Adeevah, Bristolian DJ, Adeevah is one of Bristol’s Booty Bass, the collective of women and non-binary DJs, and Yusuf Suave, co-founder of RepresentAsian, who began DJing in Bristol as The Sultan back in 2009.
The session will provide a space for South Asian participants to learn about the diaspora’s contributions to the UK music scene, understand the decks, learn new techniques and see what the world of DJing is all about.

Safiya Bashir, part of the team at RepresentAsian, said: “After five sellout nights across Bristol, we’ve found it more difficult to find South Asian DJs we haven’t worked with before.
“It’s one thing celebrating existing talent but it feels equally important to encourage people in Bristol who want to explore DJing but haven’t had the opportunity.
“We’re hoping our workshops will lead to a new generation of DJs in the city.”
No previous mixing ability is required for you to attend and two sessions will take place on August 5 at Pirate Studios.
Spaces are limited and to attend, you will need to apply by July 23 at https://asianartsagency.co.uk/dj-taster-workshop/
