Help get Bristol station SWU.FM back on air

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Nov 10, 2016

SWU.FM is applying for a full time FM licence, and it needs listeners’ support to make it happen.

The Bristol based radio station – which specialises in urban and electronic genres – broadcast an unmissable month of music back in May, and is now looking to make itself a permanent fixture on Bristol’s airwaves.

Local artists who appeared in the station’s initial run included Roni Size & Krust, Pinch, Smith & Mighty, DJ Die, Jus Now, Young Echo and My Nu Leng, plus forward thinking out-of-towners like Amy Becker and Om Unit.

The station made the following announcement on its Facebook page:

“We’re pleased to announce that we finally have the opportunity to apply for a full time FM licence this December! But first we have to show evidence of demand for SWU FM, to show the licensing authorities that people want a new FM radio station in Bristol.

To do this we need you to fill our short user survey on our website here: www.swu.fm/survey

It will only take two minutes of your time, and with a few clicks you can make a difference.

If we miss this chance, we wont be able to apply again till 2019! So please don’t sleep on this… now is the time.”

If you missed out during SWU’s initial run you’ll find the whole archive on their website.
