Help make a music video during lockdown
Knowle West musician Kala Cheung is asking for people to help film her next music video.
Kala, who records music under the name KALA CHNG, makes “electro urban pop with a Chinese twist”.
She wants people from across Bristol to record themselves in their homes for her new track Superhuman, which is “all about how we all have gifts and talents to give to the world”.
is needed now More than ever
To take part, people need to dress up as a superhero, either real or made up, or as “your fabulous, ramped-up self”, record a video dancing to the song and then send the clip to Kala.
Kala recently received a £10,000 grant from Arts Council England to help her develop as an artist and has recently been signed to the Starsing, the Chinese music label for an impressive roster of major Western artists including Taylor Swift and The Beatles.
“So many people are bored and lonely and some are finding it hard to know how to get out of a lockdown blues,” Kala told Bristol24/7.
“I wanted people to have an invite to try being creative, putting towards something bigger together creating a sense of togetherness.”
Props are welcome and clips for the video must be recorded in landscape in front of a plain or themed backdrop area.
“It doesn’t need to be perfect,” Kala adds. “I’ll only take the good bits from each video and chop it together.
“Let’s make the next KALA CHNG music video from our homes!”
