Popular city centre music venue to close
At a time where music venues are under threat of closure across the city, from financial constraints and impending housing developments, the loss of another veue is a further blow to the Bristol music scene.
Hy-Brasil Music Club has acted as a home for artists and promoters over the years, who have brought incredible live music and good times in abundance.
The Baldwin Street venue, formerly known as Start The Bus, will close at the end of September. It will be replaced with an O’Neill’s bar and restaurant that will open later in the year.

Hy-Brasil has hosted some incredible live music over the years, from Katy J Pearson to Adjua, and the most underground names in punk and neo-soul to up-and-coming rockstars The Orielles.
Hy-Brasil opened on Baldwin Street in November 2016, replacing Start The Bus
General manager Harry and ents manager Rob announced the news of the venue’s closure on Facebook on Monday.
In a statement, they wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closure of Hy-Brasil Music Club / Start The Bus from October 2019. It is the decision of the owners to close the doors of the venue for one last time and make way for an O’Neils which will open later this year.
“We would like to thank every single person that has been involved with this venue from Start the Bus to today and all the valued customers we’ve had walk through these doors over the years.”
Hy-Brasil will have a final party on September 28 with Thumper, No Violet, Indigos and Black Flies.
