By Rhys Buchanan  Friday Mar 1, 2019

The biggest vinyl party of the year is upon us and this year’s list of titles have just been announced.

Once again hundreds of artists have come together in support of independent record stores to create limited and exclusive vinyl releases for Record Store Day.

Legendary names such as Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Prince, Aretha Franklin and The Flaming Lips have all produced special releases for this year’s event which takes place on 13th April.

Bristol music fans will be pleased to hear that Idles are releasing their second EP Meat for the first time on vinyl. The release was undeniably a pivotal moment for the band who have gone on to take the world by storm.

Frontman Joe Talbot has said, “Record Store Day is a celebration. A celebration of worth, artistic exploration and conscientious craftsmanship that closes the gap on mindless consumerism and allows artists and labels who care about fans and hold the relationship they have with the artist as paramount.”

With a record number of stores participating this year, there should be a high chance of finding what you want this year. Participating local stores so far include Rough Trade and Friendly Records and Specialist Subject, where you can also expect a healthy dose of live music.
