Idles nominated for ‘British Breakthrough Act’ Brit Award

Bristol’s post-punk behemoths Idles have been nominated for ‘Best British Breakthrough Act’ at the Brit Awards.

The band form part of five nominees, including Ella Mai, Jorja Smith, Mabel and Tom Walker.

You could see ‘breakthrough’ as something of an understatement in a year which saw the band’s second album Joy As An Act Of Resistance soar into the top five.

They also appeared on Jools Holland, KEXP and embarked on a huge world tour, selling out shows in Europe and America.

The band see the nomination alone as a massive achievement,  recognising the amount of work they have put in over the last few years. They said, “This is batshit mental, long live the open minded.”
