Idles to play live on opening day of Bristol’s new Rough Trade shop
Bristol band of the year Idles will be the very first act to play in Rough Trade when it opens on Nelson Street on Monday, December 11.
“Rough Trade Bristol aims to be a great record shop, a place to hang out with friends, a shared place of discovery and an informal venue to witness the latest and greatest artists perform live, intimately, up-close,” a statement posted on the Rough Trade Facebook page said.
The first customers to the new shop will receive one month’s free membership to the Rough Trade Club, which is set to include their album of the month delivered to your door, priority pre-ordering and access to exclusive events.

This will become the home of only the fifth Rough Trade shop in the world following London, New York and Nottingham
Idles’ in-store gig on December 11 will be celebrating the Rough Trade exclusive LP release of the band’s debut album, Brutalism, available the same day via Balley Records.
The LP is limited to 300 copies on transparent light blue vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve.
Rough Trade’s new 4,500 sq ft shop in opposite The Lanes will also feature a cafe, bar and live performance area.
It will become only the fifth Rough Trade shop in the world following stores in London, New York and Nottingham.
“As our stores have grown in size and popularity, so has their scope and ability to embrace a wider celebration of independent thinking, creativity and fearless self-expression, from literature to DIY technology,” the Rough Trade website says.
“Fundamentally, our stores provide creative, independent minds a shared place of discovery and congregation.”
