Idles share new track ‘Mercedes Marxist’

By Rhys Buchanan  Tuesday May 7, 2019

Idles have shared their first new music of 2019 and it’s sure to please their fans.

The new track Mercedes Marxist continues with their rampant and driving style.

It marks their first release since 2018’s album Joy As An Act of Resistance which took them to into the top five in the album charts.

While it’s unclear of whether this is a precursor to another full release from the band, this is a great indication that they are insisting on keeping the momentum going.

As expected, frontman Joe Talbot’s lyrics are packed with anger and meaning, “I bow on my knees for you but I’m already wasted,” he sings in his unmistakable vocal.

While the track is obviously Idles, it does show that their sound is evolving and that when another full release comes, it won’t simply be more of the same.

The band are currently on tour in America and will return to UK soil for a massive show at Glastonbury Festival next month.
