Local couple fundraising to turn last remaining pub into new community hub
A local couple are currently fundraising to save The Rhubarb Tavern, Barton Hill’s last remaining pub.
Located on Queen Ann Road, Tara Clerkin and Sunny Paradisos are hoping to save the space and bring it back as a pub, community hub and new music and arts venue for Barton Hill.
After closing its doors in 2020, a group of dedicated regulars have worked hard to get the building protected status so it couldn’t be developed.
is needed now More than ever
Tara and Sunny’s aim is to run the pub as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company so that the space is used as a place for everyone; a place for music, community groups, workshops and affordable food.
The couple have so far achieved £35, 708 of their target £45,000 with the fundraiser ending on October 28.
The money raised will go towards the venue, which needs extensive repairs including a new bar, equipping it with music facilities, a working kitchen and other facilities.
