Longest Johns announce that Dave Robinson is leaving band
One of the founding members of The Longest Johns will be leaving Bristol’s international sea shanty sensations at the end of May.
Dave Robinson (pictured above, far left) has been described as an “innovative creator” by his fellow bandmates, who will carry on as a trio without him.
A theatre technician by trade, Dave has written several of the band’s original songs as well as singing tenor and playing various whistles.
is needed now More than ever
In a statement, the remaining members of the band – Jonathan ‘JD’ Darley, Robbie Satin and Andy Yates – said: “It is with a heavy heart that The Longest Johns must announce the departure of one of our number.
“Dave is a founding member of the band and has been a writer of many of our most beloved songs and innovative creator for the past 11 years, but it is here that our paths must diverge.
“We wish him all the best and hope the community will continue to support him in his future endeavours.
“Dave will be continuing shows through until the end of the month finishing with a livestream farewell on Tuesday 30th May.
“The rest of the band will be carrying on full-force with new releases and international tours already in the works.
“Keep singing!”
