Music & Clubs Picks, November 21 – 27
Monday: Slaves, O2 Academy
Hard-gigging, Mercury nominated saviours of punk rock, or ludicrous charlatans with an embarassing name? Catch the Tunbridge Wells duo at the Academy, and work it out for yourself.

Tuesday: Dälek, The Louisiana

Wednesday: Sisters of Mercy, O2 Academy
Although they’re reportedly not keen on the g-word themselves, Sisters of Mercy are the archetypal goth band. Their gloomy, driving, highly danceable take on rock won them legions of black clad fans in the ’80s and ’90s, and they’re still a cult force to reckon with today.

Thursday: Autechre, Motion
Alongside Aphex Twin and Black Dog, Autechre were pioneers of the abstract techno associated with Warp Records in the 1990s. Their live sets are all the more intense for being performed in almost total darkness.

Friday: Just Jack, Coroners Court
Legowelt is among the most creative forces in dance music today. Rooted in early house and techno, the Dutch producer’s music also draws on everything from ’80s film music to ’90s IDM. Promoters Just Jack return to the scene of some of their most memorable parties – the crumbling morgue next door to Lakota.

Saturday: Blood Sport & Giant Swan, Crofters Rights
Blood Sport are a superb dance-noise group from Sheffield, whose restless rhythms are punctuated by bursts of punkish vocals. Support comes from Giant Swan, an equally great synth noise duo featuring half of Bristol guitar manglers The Naturals.
