Musicians on the Run returns to Bristol’s streets
Musicians across Bristol are currently limbering up and lacing their trainers ahead of Musicians on the Run.
The popular jamboree will see performers racing across Bedminster and Southville, keen to impress the public and earn their votes as they play 15-minute sets across multiple venues in a single night. It’s all in the hope of being named top Musician on the Run at the end of the evening and winning a cash prize.
The celebration combines athleticism with music in a way that no other event in Bristol does, and also brings musicians into of some of the city’s smaller venues south of the river, including The Old Bookshop, Café Grounded, The Hen and Chicken, North Street Standard and many more.

This year’s iteration comes with a twist: all the participating musicians will have to work under the theme of world music.
Organiser Tom Beard states: “This will be the fifth Musicians on the Run and we wanted to do something a little different. We want to see people with guitars, banjos, bongos, sitars, accordions and maybe even a few instruments you’ve never even heard of.”

Some of musicians hoping to win the title include Seb Longhorn, The Road Zombies and 2016’s winner of the competition, Corky Wurzel.
The event is free to attend and will represent the diverse community of Bedminster, as well as helping to kick-start the wider ‘World of Bedminster’ month, which includes the Big Bemmy Banquet on Sunday August 20, a banquet of 500 meals celebrating 500 of Bedminster’s unsung heroes, all voted for by the public.
Musicians on the Run takes place across Bedminster and Southville from 7-11pm on Wednesday August 2. For more information, visit: www.facebook.com/events/331202377314372
