New album from The Charlie Tipper Experiment
Bristol band The Charlie Tipper Experiment have released their new album.
Consisting of a group of veteran Bristol musicians, they’ve come together to make new music. Lead singer Tim (formerly of the Flatmates, the Five Year Plan, Beatnik Filmstars, Forest Giants and the Short Stories) joined guitarist Jon Kent (The Groove Farm and the Filmstars), bassist Geoff Gorton (The Harpoons, Rorschach and Santa Cruz) and drummer Simon Harris (The Dangerous Roundabouts) for this 21st century incarnation. Add guest pianist Ruth Cochrane (original bass player in the Blue Aeroplanes) and cornet-played Harry Furniss into the mix and you have yourself a winning formula.
‘Mellow On’, released on Breaking Down Recordings, is an album full of original songs, not re-writes of previous minor triumphs. Influenced by the likes of The Go-Betweens, Joy Division and Thurston Moore, it was written in just over two weeks. Drums were done in a single day at the local rehearsal room, guitars, bass and vocals added in assorted homes, and Hammond organ played one Sunday morning in a local studio before anyone arrived to kick them out.
