Nile Rodgers and CHIC show postponed for another year

By Lowie Trevena  Wednesday Apr 14, 2021

It has been announced that Nile Rodgers and CHIC and Belle & Sebastian will no longer perform in Bristol in summer 2021.

Following the postponement of the three nights of shows in 2020, organisers Bristol Beacon have had to yet again postpone the music stars performances at Lloyds Amphitheatre.

“We know that ticket holders and music fans are eager to return to live music events as soon as its safe, so we know that many will be disappointed that Nile Rogers and CHIC and Belle & Sebastian won’t be gracing the Bristol Harbourside this summer,” says Bristol Beacon artistic director, Todd Wills.

“We want to ensure that these shows can go ahead exactly as intended, and with 21st June being the very earliest that large-scale events can take place according to the government’s roadmap, there is little time to guarantee we can make this happen.”

The indie band Belle & Sebastian and disco funk legends Nile Rogers and CHIC will instead perform in 2022.

Belle & Sebastian will now appear on Bristol’s Harbourside on Wednesday, July 132022, and Nile Rogers and CHIC will now take to the stage on Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15, 2022.

2021 will mark 25 years since Belle and Sebastian released their debut album Tigermilk, and when they perform in 2022, it will be the first time they have taken to a Bristol stage since 2015.

Nile Rodgers and CHIC, known for their hits such as Le Freak and Good Times, have been selling out shows since the 1970s.

Todd Wills says: “We’ve been working with the artists to secure new dates for these events, and we are really happy that we can still bring these musical icons to Bristol next summer.”
