Porn Ping & The Space Bubble Discotheque release debut album
Recorded remotely over a year of lockdowns, the eclectically named Porn Ping & The Space Bubble Discotheque have just released their debut album, Love Death & Betrayal.
Southville musician and producer Tom Bell produced the album from a studio he built in a former bonded tobacco warehouse, now converted storage unit, at Safestore near Ashton Gate.
Love Death & Betrayal was created as a project between the band, most of whom have never been able to meet in person.

Each track from the album is paired with an illustrated bespoke comic book artwork which can be seen on the band’s website.
Porn Ping & The Space Bubble Discotheque are currently in the process of looking for a record company to promote the new release, as well as to help achieve their dreams of distributing it in vinyl form.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, producer, Bell said: “The idea for the record came from the fear, loneliness and a desperate desire to escape which so many of us felt during the first lockdown.
“On one level, it’s just a whimsical story about a cosmic Casanova who gets his comeuppance. But really, we came to think of this record as an expression of how the covid pandemic made us feel, and how it had changed our lives.”
The album tells the story of an amoral space cowboy who abandons his girlfriend on a space station but who faces retribution from a galactic gangster.
In its first radio airplay, Adam Crowther of the BBC’s Upload Show broadcast the track Supersized Earth, describing it as a “gentle acoustic track with beautiful lyrics, offering escapism and reflection on humanity”.
Love Death & Betrayal is available to stream via Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon and all other major streaming sites. To find out more, visit spacebubbledisco.com.
