Preview: Forwards Festival
After a successful inaugural event in 2022, Fowards Festival returns to the Downs on September 1 and 2.
Team Love, the specialist company behind Love Saves the Day, are the founders of the two-day festival.
Previously welcoming names such as The Chemical Brothers, Charli XCX and Jamie XX, this year’s edition will see the return of Aphex Twin for the first time in several years as well as Erykha Badu.
is needed now More than ever
Other artists also on the lineup include singer-songwriter Raye, Australian duo Confidence Man, London singer Arlo Parks and musical duo Jockstrap.
As well as international names, the festival will welcome a number of Bristol artists to the stage, including Katy J Pearson, Grove, Marla Kether, Scalping and Saloon Dion.
The programme also promises to be a space for discussion and debate with the festival hosting a range of panel talks from industry experts at the Information stage.
The 2023 programme will tackle inequality in the media, the housing emergency, racism, sexism in story writing, black novelists and writers, queer stories, politics on TikTok and more.
Originally created at Forwards Festival in Bristol, the Information stage appeared for the first time at Glastonbury earlier this year.
The clue is in the name; Forwards Festival aims to bring about lasting positive change through their two day live event as well as year-round social initiatives.
