Preview: Molotov Jukebox, The Fleece

By Josiah Wong  Wednesday Sep 26, 2018

This Saturday, (29th September) The Fleece will glow with tropical vibes as Molotov Jukebox recapture the summer and positively dance the Autumn dark away.

Ten years ago Molotov Jukebox was formed when actor/singer Natalia Tena met violinist Sam Apley and quickly created a unique and infectious sound. Fusing together reggae, gypsy dance and funk with pop hooks their music practically guarantees a party and they’ve become one of Bristol’s favourites.

Over the years the group have traversed the globe and racked up hundreds of festival appearances, adopting a little of each countries sound into their own. Second album, Tropical Gypsy followed on from the success of 2014’s Carnival Flower and is titled after their own unique genre. (Although fans have coined the term gyp-step.)

Their sound is a whirlwind of joy that deals with all the highs and lows of everyday life while leaving your feet stomping. Bring out the pineapples, bust out your most garish Hawaiian shirt and dance the night away.
