Pussy Riot to play in Bristol
Russian punk band Pussy Riot will perform in Bristol this autumn.
The show takes place at The Marble Factory on November 18 and is part of a tour which is their first appearance in the UK since playing at Dismaland in Weston-super-Mare in 2015:
Three members of the band were imprisoned for “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” in 2012 after a protest performance inside Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

The protest was directed at the Orthodox Church leaders’ support of Vladimir Putin during his election campaign.
Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikov were released from prison in December 2013 and Yekaterina Samutsevich was freed on probation in 2012.
In September, Alyokhina will release her memoir Riot Days, with Pussy Riot’s appearance in Bristol an accompanying performance that merges music, documentary footage and protest.
