Review: Anna Erhard, The Louisiana – ‘Addictive, infectious indie pop’
I got fully consumed by Anna Erhard and her witty insightful lyrics all wrapped up nicely in an indie pop box. Their music made me smile and want to get on a train and follow them around the country on their whole tour.
Anna’s lyrics come to life, live and really land in different places when sung two yards away from my ears. You can see what is meant as maybe tongue in cheek and what’s serious.
Their music feels like a breeze blowing through my bald hair. When they slow things down during One Minute Silence it grabs me and turns me from curious to a fan.
is needed now More than ever
They have a passion live that I hadn’t recognised from simply streaming. Guestroom starts with the line that piqued my interest in Anna’s music to begin with “I write secret messages and hide them at festivals”.
I can imagine them being a perfect festival band. Greenman specifically.
Thinking of an End glides and drifts around the room effortlessly, it creeps up on you taps you on the shoulder and gives you a nice hug.
Campsite turns into a sunny summer indie anthem live and took me by surprise, definitely the song I’ve had in my head the next day.
It’s been a while since I went to The Louisiana and what a venue! I will not neglect you anymore. The sound was perfect, the crowd were transfixed and lively in all the right places.
The band were having fun and were all smiles pretty much all the way through this gig and clearly love what they do. The effects peddle finally get some as they crunch through new single 170, my new favourite song, about height.
We end with Picnic at the Seaside and everything in the world feels great with yet more addictive, infectious indie pop. I steal the tiniest set list ever and make my way. Great Gig. Happy days.
