Review: Balancing Act, Crofters Rights – ‘Bursting with charisma’
While a gig might not be the ideal place to go on one of the hottest days of the year, I was glad to be spending the night at Crofters Rights to see Balancing Act.
A four-piece band who are pretty new on the scene, but have already built up a selection of indie rock hits that showcase their growing talent.
First up was Andy Goodwin, bringing an engaging set to the stage that pumped the crowd for the rest of the night.
is needed now More than ever
His songs have infectious hooks that draw you in and make singing along a breeze, and I was also very impressed by the lyricism he displayed.
The second support act was Moon, a four-piece band fronted by a female vocalist from Swindon.
The songs they played swung between a softer sound and a more rocky vibe. This allowed the audience to experience all of their talents, championing the vocals on the slower songs and the skilful instrument playing when things got a bit heavier.
Then it was time for the main event. Bursting with charisma, the quartet launched into a selection of rock/indie hits that kept the crowd engaged throughout their set.
A band can sometimes hinge on their frontman, and Kai Roberts is able to expertly engage the crowd whilst delivering powerful vocals and a stage presence you can’t look away from.
Their latest single, Cheshire Smile, was definitely the stand-out of the set, a great track that really allowed each member of the band to shine in their own right.
Another great moment was when Kai came off stage to perform a song in the crowd, taking the time to engage with us on a more personal level.
Overall Balancing Act, Moon and Andy Goodwin all have very promising careers on the horizon so jump in now and follow their journeys!
