Review: Kojey Radical, The Exchange
Kojey Radical returns to Bristol once again to provide us with a performance of pure energy and warm-hearted humour. Within the intimate venue of The Exchange, the energy is high and the crowd move their feet.
Prior to Kojey’s performance though, we are graced by the presence of Connie Constance. She is a 22-year-old singer from Watford and has already made a name for herself on the UK music scene. She’s highly talented and has a mixture of sounds ranging from Corrine Bailey Rae’s enchanting vocals to a spoken word vibe more reminiscent of Kate Nash. She gives a hauntingly beautiful showcase of her soulful vocals and performs some of her most popular songs, Let Go, Stars and The Answer.
is needed now More than ever
After being lulled into a dreamy daze by such a performance, it’s Kojey’s turn to shine. His new album, In God’s Body, consists of melodic themes of love and heartbreak but he performs in a way that instantly makes you want to smile. His high energy is admirable and the jokes he comes up with on the spot are brilliant. The young Londoner knows how to work a crowd and makes sure that the Bristol audience had a good time. He performs several tracks off his new album including 700 Pennies, the intimate track about his experiences with love.
Kojey’s music has feel-good vibe with a political infusion. His art is important to those with political inclinations here in Bristol and we hope to hear some more music from him very soon. He has a bright future and we can’t wait for him to return.
