Rough Trade to open on Nelson Street
Rough Trade is opening a huge new shop, cafe, bar and live performance space on Nelson Street opposite The Lanes.
It will only be the fourth Rough Trade in the UK, following two shops in London and one in Nottingham. There is also a Rough Trade in New York.

While this is undoubtedly great news for music fans in Bristol, it’s tinged with sadness as it will mean the end of Rise – which will be subsumed into the new shop following the closure of their home on the Triangle at the end of the summer.

In a brief statement, Rise said that they have been working with Rough Trade for a few years and confirmed in a later tweet that the new shop will retain the passionate Rise staff.

Friska, who currently occupy the ground floor of Rise, have already confirmed that they will be moving to a new cafe on Park Street.
Meanwhile, the Queen’s Road building is set to become bar and restaurant The Alchemist.
