Saffron announces new Artist Development programme
Applications are now open for Black women and non-binary music creators based in South West England to participate in Saffron’s new Artist Development project.
Saffron will provide three participants with tools, opportunities and support to develop their music. The project centres around a paid commission from Saffron to create a musical work, exploring the topic of human relationships with technology.
The prpject is to lay deeper foundations for better visibility, representation and financial benefit for Black music creators in the area.

Last year’s devlopement programme saw five emerging Bristol-based music producers nurture and grow their talent with a project comissioned by MSCTY, the global music-architecture agency.
The project activity includes a paid commission from Saffron (exploring the topic of human relationships with technology), 1-2-1 mentoring, a one year Saffron Membership, residential artist’s retreat and music masterclasses, live showcase event and optional support with creative direction.

To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following criteria:
- A musical creative of some kind, such as a music producer, composer, lyricist, instrumentalist or vocalist.
- A woman, non-binary person, trans, intersex or gender non-conforming.
- Black or of Black heritage; eg. Black British, Black African or Black Caribbean, including those of mixed-Black heritage
- Age 18+. There is no maximum age limit
- Currently living in Bristol or anywhere in South West England
The deadline to apply is November 16 at 6pm.
