Sam Binga gets ‘Wasted’

By Adam Burrows  Thursday Oct 22, 2015

Sam Simpson has been around the block a few times. A northerner by birth, he’s been involved in the Bristol music scene since the early ’00s. Initially known for producing breaks as Baobinga (and sometimes Skinnz) he was also one of the people behind the influential – and now apparently defunct – bassmusicblog

As well as regular sparring partner ID he collaborated with Geiom, Hyetal, Guido and Mensah before turning his hand to house music as half of Behling & Simpson. All that cross-pollination seems to have paid off. Now known as Sam Binga, his cocktail of jungle, grime, hip-hop, footwork and dacehall is soundsystem perfection, and his newly released debut LP for drum & bass label Critical is well worth getting excited about.

Featuring impeccable beats, bruising subs and inspired vocal performances from guests like Warrior Queen, Redders and TT the Artist, Wasted Days is arguably the finest ‘dance’ album to come out of Bristol in 2015.
