Spotlight: Tlya X An
Born in Jerusalem, Tlya X An relocated to Bristol at the age of 17 and now lives in Bedminster. Since then she has garnered attention in the music industry for her unique melodies and basslines, and released her debut EP earlier this year.
How would you describe your music?
“I struggle describing my own music but if I had to I’d say bass heavy alternative pop with a passionate all-consuming nature.”

What influences your music?
“The now, powerful emotions, playfulness, addictive melodies and philosophy.”
What’s your favourite memory of your career so far?
“I had a show at Portsmouth supporting PVA. It was my first time visiting Portsmouth and a girl in the crowd was filming and singing the lyrics to my song Daddy’ <3.”
What has the response been to the music and art you’ve put out there so far?
“Incredible, humbling and inspiring, I am very critical of my own work and having people enjoy it is so lovely and fulfilling.”
How have you found breaking into the music industry for grassroots artists?
“It’s a pretty insane journey. I don’t think about it often. My main focus is to grow as an artist and I trust that the rest will fall into place. It seems to be working.”
Where’s your favourite place to perform and attend a gig in Bristol?
“I loved performing at Thekla last year, one of my favourite shows.”
Who’s your dream artist to work with?
“So many, but based on what I’m currently doing I’d say Deaton Chris Anthony.”
Who have you got your eye on at the moment? Are there any artists you think deserve more appreciation/acknowledgement?
“There are so many incredible artists in Bristol. Off the top of my head: Solo Jane, Teddy Good, Irish Mellow, Cia, DieBroke and The Yard Woman.”
What’s next for you?
“World domination.”
